What this site collects

Know-It-All is produced by Know It All Movie LLC in Brooklyn, New York. This page covers what knowitallfilm.com collects, who else handles it, and how to have it removed. It was written by going through what the site actually does, so everything here is something you could check.

If you’re just looking at the site

We use PostHog to count visits: which pages get opened, and which links and buttons get clicked. It records your browser and device, an approximate location worked out from your IP address, and the page you were on.

It does not record your screen — session replay is switched off — and it does not know who you are. Nobody using this site is given a name, a profile or an identity in the analytics; visits are counted against a random ID stored in your browser.

Two cookies are involved:

  • kia_region holds one of two words, eu or row. It is how the site knows whether it has to ask you before starting analytics. It identifies nothing and is joined to nothing.
  • A PostHog cookie holding that random ID, so two page views in the same browser count as one visitor rather than two.

In the EU and EEA, the UK and Switzerland, nothing starts until you say yes: if you decline, the analytics code is never even downloaded. Everywhere else it starts when the page loads. Either way you can change your mind here:

If you sign up for updates

The form on the front page takes an email address and nothing else. It goes into our Airtable base so we can email you about the film. Ask us at press@knowitallfilm.com and we will take it off.

We don’t keep our own log of who visited. Vercel, which hosts the site, keeps ordinary server logs that include IP addresses.

If you’re in the cast or crew

Your personal link is how you send us paperwork. Through it we collect your legal name and mailing address, your tax classification and tax ID, a signed W-9, how you want to be paid — Zelle details, or a bank routing and account number — an emergency contact, and your invoices and expense receipts.

All of it lives in our Airtable base, which only the film’s producers can open. None of it is ever sent to the analytics. The analytics code runs in your browser and reports which page you were on, not what you typed into it.

Your link is the key to your own records, which is why it’s worth not forwarding it — and why the site strips it out of the page address before anything is sent to PostHog, along with producer sign-in links and internal record IDs. In the analytics your page shows up as /p/[token] and nothing more.

Deal memos are sent and signed through SignWell. To fill yours in, we send SignWell your legal and credited names, address, phone, email, emergency contact and the terms of your engagement — never your tax ID or bank details. The signed copy is filed in the same Airtable base.

Payment and tax records have to be kept for the production’s accounts and for tax purposes. We keep them as long as that requires and not longer.

Who else handles it

  • Vercel — hosting, and server logs
  • Airtable — cast and crew records, and the mailing list
  • PostHog — analytics, stored in the United States
  • Resend — the email the site sends: your payment setup link, producer sign-in links, and a note if an invoice needs changes
  • SignWell — deal memo signing, and the details that go into your deal memo

Getting something changed or removed

Email press@knowitallfilm.com and tell us what you want corrected or deleted. We will remove anything we are not legally required to keep, and tell you plainly if something has to stay.
